Everyone loves Dyson, if we believe TikTok.

Thousands of creators swear by the Airwrap. Shark is the affordable option everyone knows. But in the last few weeks, we kept seeing Ace & Taylor videos everywhere. After it went viral, we decided to put all three to the test.

LOOK & FEEL

On looks alone, Dyson wins this round. It feels instantly iconic and properly considered. Ace & Taylor comes close with a softer, more playful finish. Shark is clever and practical, but I did not love the look of it in person.

The more interesting difference was not the colour or silhouette. It was the curl attachment itself.

All three look convincing on the counter.

Dyson feels iconic, Shark looks clever and practical, and Ace & Taylor has a more aesthetic pink finish.

The detail that caught my eye was not the colour, though. It was the curl attachment itself, all three look so different!

02 / CURL ATTACHMENT DETAIL

LONG LASTING CURLS?

The curl attachments are where the real difference starts

We compared the curl attachments side by side: barrel material, surface feel and how evenly warmth reached the hair while each curl formed. Dyson and Shark use plastic curl barrels in this test. Ace & Taylor uses ceramic curl barrels.

That matters because ceramic is designed to distribute heat more evenly across the barrel, giving the curl more time to set before it cools. It does not replace sensible heat care, but it is the more considered attachment material if lasting hold is the goal.

Dyson and Shark both use plastic curling attachments. Ace & Taylor uses ceramic.

Ace & Taylor claims: better heat distribution, longer-lasting curls and less damage.

Results

We went in skeptical, but after reviewing the materials and testing the result, the difference made sense. Plastic distributes heat less evenly, while ceramic helps the curl set more consistently before it cools. In our test, that translated into curls that held noticeably longer with Ace & Taylor.

It is not magic, and it is not a reason to ignore sensible heat care. It is a more considered attachment material for anyone who cares about a curl lasting beyond the first hour.

Final conclusion

The Dyson and Shark were performing well, but the curls simply didn't last long enough for my liking. I kept coming back to the Ace & Taylor ceramic curl attachments. On real hair, across a full week, the curl result stayed in place longer than I expected.

Overal conclusion

If long-lasting, healthy curls are what you’re after, I’d genuinely suggest giving

Ace & Taylor a try.

Good news, after speaking with the Ace & Taylor team, I was given code "JACK15" for an extra 15% off on top of the current sale.

Good luck!
